Most of us would like an online storage facility where we can backup our data and feel secure in the knowledge that we can retrieve it if in case our computer crashes. There are many online storage facilities available and prominent among them is the cloud based CrashPlan+. With MobileMe folding up, there is a need for a reliable and efficient online storage facility and this is where CrashPlan+ with its multilayered plans and flexible options comes into the picture. Given the fact that it is a cloud based storage facility, you need not worry about the safety and reliability of your data as following in the footsteps of Amazon Drive, CrashPlan+ offers retail users the same facilities as those offered to corporates. What more! You can back up your data from multiple computers and external devices as well. Further, the attractive options like background syncing and backup gives you the facility to continue your work while the data is getting backed up.
Plans Offered
There are three basic plans that are offered by CrashPlan+ and they vary according to the amount of online storage that they offer. For instance, there is a plan for 10 GB of online storage space that starts from $1.5 a month and you can backup data from one computer. For those who are primarily interested in backing up documents and other less data intensive files, this plan is the best especially when one considers the fact that not many users have multiple computers to backup their data.
The next plan is the CrashPlan+ Unlimited which offers unlimited data storage and facility to backup data from one computer and starts at $3 a month. This is beneficial for those who need lots of storage space and operate mainly from one computer. Potential users for this plan can include those who want to backup their music, movies and eBooks’. Of course, the performance is a bit slow for slower connections and when you have a parallel thread running on your computer.
Finally, if you are looking for data backup for your entire family, the CrashPlan+ Family Unlimited is the one for you. With the option to backup from as many ten computers and unlimited storage space, the plan is also affordable starting from $10 a month. Considering that many want their children’s data to be backed up as well, this plan is ideal for nuclear families and even extended families also. What more! The plan offers exciting payment options like monthly renewal and one time yearly fees which makes payment easier and convenient.
Of all the plans, I found the CrashPlan+ Unlimited the most attractive because with the data being unlimited, many of us can forego the multiple computers option. Of course, it is your choice since the company has plans for almost all kinds of retail users. To make the process inviting, the company offers a one month free trial so that you can check out the utility for yourself before committing to the plans.
Backups and Accessing Data
As far as backup and accessing data is concerned, CrashPlan+ is really convenient to retrieve data in case your computer crashes. All you need to do is run the utility on your computer and choose the restore data option. Excepting the actual installation of the program files, CrashPlan+ restores the entire data in exactly the way you want and how it was before the crash.
The backup is also easy because all you need to do is start the backup and let it run in the background while you go about your work. There is also the option to backup the data on the mobile apps and this is something that adds to the attractiveness of the product. The 448 Bit Encryption that is used to secure your files gives you the added comfort of knowing that your data is secure with CrashPlan+ and that being on a cloud, you can always retrieve it no matter what the circumstances.
Indeed, the next time your computer crashes, you can say with confidence that you have planned for it with CrashPlan+. Though one would not like one’s computer to crash, it is better to plan for it.
